So we finally have some video of both myself and Jonah the Destroyer doing a bit from the show. I've been watching this over and over because, honestly, this is the first recording I've seen with the walking bass and I can't get enough of it.
Of note, Courtney McLean and phillip andrew bennet low grabbed me just before the showcase started and dragged me off to the bar next door. I thought they were going to instill some secrets about how to pull off an awesome first Fringe Festival show, but they really just wanted to feed me whiskey.
Which is fine. I think I was just the right level of relaxed when it was my turn to take the stage. Perhaps I'll get drunk before all of my shows from now on...
Idiosynchronicity is Ahead Full Bore

(Or perhaps I should say "full steam," so as not to be confused with something boring...) In any case, the show is finished, the scripts are sent out to torture the ASL interpreter and my musical guest and I have begun our showcases.
On a side note, I got torn up a bit by a pitbull a little over a week ago and the owner doesn't appear capable of handling my medical expenses, which are extensive. You can help, though, simply by going here and voting for me. You get up to three votes with a valid email address, and I promise to use the cash prize to chip away at the cost of intravenous antibiotics and ER visits.
You can get your tickets ahead of time for any of the five scheduled shows by going to the Fringe Festival website. I'm not saying you have to buy your tickets in advance, but I will tell you there's far more buzz surrounding my humble little show than I'd initially expected and it is possible that one or more nights will come close to capacity.
So go, click, buy and secure your place in the audience for this limited public performance.
That Secret Thing I'm Doing
Monday 05 July 2010 at 11:10 pm
I'll just put this out there: From time to time during conventions, and especially during CONvergence, I get to a point where I'm so tired my brain not think good no more.
The time when I'm in that state is usually about the same time that I run into a friend or acquaintance I've known for ages. I suspect it's because I've already been overloaded by new names and faces, and what happens is that I completely blank on the names of people I know. Happened more than once this past weekend, with people I've spent significant time talking with on dozens of occasions before. In one case, it was with someone I've known for years. I dunno what's up, or why this happens.
Whatever the cause, you can tell when it's happening by watching for two sure signs. First, you'll see me talking to someone with whom I'm casually acquainted, whom I see on a semi-regular basis, and whom you've heard me call by name before. Second, it will look like I'm texting while I carry on a conversation with them.
I'm not actually texting. I'm frantically scouring my facebook friends in the hopes that I'll stumble upon something to trigger my memory before the conversation ends.
It's true, sadly, but this is the information my mind chucks out when it's time for me to go have a little lie down.
